Karen Abercrombie
Award-Winning Actress ~ Film Producer ~ Miss Clara from War Room
Karen Abercrombie is an award winning actress, singer-songwriter, award winning storyteller and a new film producer.
Her most recent awards include a Dove Award and a Movieguide Grace Award, for her performance in the Kendrick Brother's faith based film, "War Room", where she played the spicy, 80 year old prayer warrior, "Miss Clara". Though Karen has an impressive list of film credits to her name, it was her performance in War Room that brought her to the forefront. Karen just wrapped on a brand new faith based film, 'Just Grace'. It will be released sometime in 2019. 'Just Grace' is a powerful story about forgiveness, healing and grace. Karen created, produced and starred in the film and co-wrote the screen play with Tara Lynn Marcelle. Over the years Karen has enjoyed guest starring on numerous television shows such as 'The Inspectors' , 'Strong Medicine', 'Vampire Diaries', 'Saved by The Bell', 'Judging Amy' and 'Ally McBeal', to name a few. She also played recurring character, Aberdeen, on AMC's historical drama, 'Turn'.
An absolute lover of live theatre, Karen has received numerous accolades over the years for her live stage performances. Last year she took to the stage again under the direction of Zadia Ife, where she turned out riveting performances in the Off-Broadway production of "Ciao Bella", a two character drama with music that she wrote and produced. She said that she is still reeling from the experience and is looking forward to her next live stage performance. Karen is currently gearing up to workshop "The Shoe", a musical that she wrote several years ago and shelved. She recently decided to take off the shelf and produce it. "For so many reasons, this is the perfect time to produce this musical!" says Abercrombie. The story is very loosely based on the children's nursery rhyme, The Old Woman in The Shoe. Once the show is performance ready, she plans to do a short tour around the country and then take it to New York.
The mission of Karen's new production company, Isanaklesh Entertainment, is to create and produce thought provoking, life enriching entertainment for television, the big screen and the stage. She believes wholeheartedly that art...creativity is a gift and a tool to be used to impact the world in a positive way and that is just what she intends to do through her production company. Karen has two television series and one film project currently in development.
