Host of NFL Today - Author: Role of a Lifetime
James Brown is the current host of “The NFL Today” on CBS and "Inside The NFL" on Showtime. A three-time Emmy Award-winning network broadcaster, Brown has hosted the Super Bowl a record-tying nine times including Super Bowl 53 on CBS. Brown is a Special Correspondent for CBS News and contributes to various programs such as “CBS Evening News”, “60 Minutes”, “48 Hours” and “CBS This Morning”. He is also a founding partner of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals. Among numerous honors, Brown was named the Best Studio Host of the Decade by SI.com in 2010, received the 2016 Pete Rozelle Award by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which recognizes “longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football”, and “The Uncommon Award” from Tony Dungy for his “uncommon leadership through character and faith.”
In 1974, James asked the Lord into his heart after realizing that success by the world’s standards was a pretty empty feeling. That began a 10 to 12 year search before landing in a Word-based church, Rhema Christian Center Church. James has been a Minister since 2002 and on April 19, 2009, he became an Ordained Minister. In September 2009, James’ first co-authored book entitled, Role of a Lifetime: Reflections on Faith, Family and Significant Living, was released. His wife, Evangelist Dorothy Brown is on the ministerial staff at Rhema as well. She teaches the Tabernacle of Moses at Rhema’s Givens Bible College.
James has a full ministry calendar, speaking at numerous Churches and Men’s Conferences around the country, including leading a Men’s Seminar at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, NC, Pastor Tony Evans’ “No More Excuses” men’s event, Mighty Men of Valor at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, MD and the United Pastors Network at Church of the Redeemer in Gaithersburg, MD. He’s appeared on many Christian network TV shows, among them the “700 Club”, “The Gospel Truth with Andrew Wommack”, “Life Today with James and Betty Robison” and “Today with Marilyn and Sarah”. James was also blessed to receive an Honorary Degree from Carver Bible College.
